Our Approach
MarinCAN is a collaborative network of community-based organizations, public school districts, colleges, funders and individuals wherein capacity is built throughout the community on multiple levels to:
- Expand and improve network-members’ engagement with students and families
- Foster mutual accountability among stakeholders
- Collectively support student and family aspirations and attainment of post-secondary goals
- Align the roles that schools and agencies play in preparing and ensuring students are ready and able to attend and succeed in college.
Goals
MarinCAN will accomplish these strategies by:
- Professional learning communities, within targeted regions, will support equitable college access and success.
- Resources are aligned and integrated to maximize impact.
- Collaborations support and integrate culturally relevant and resonant systems, programs and pathways in coordination with K-12 Marin schools.
- Institutional and community beliefs and norms support equitable educational opportunities.
- Students have the resources, information and guidance to successfully pursue educational opportunities.
