Our mission is to enhance the capacity of our member nonprofit organizations to better support students and their families who have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
We support organizations and collaboratives in their endeavors to align programs and resources to efficiently and effectively equip students to navigate educational systems and achieve their full potential via a college education.

Marin County Educational Achievement Gap
*
*Measured by # of 9th graders beginning high school in 2006
Marin County boasts some of the finest public schools in the state, yet remains in the bottom third in terms of educational equity. Students of color make up 30% of the K-12 population, but over 80% of these students are at risk of either not graduating high school or being ineligible for college admission. This educational equity gap creates a barrier that keeps many Marin youth from advancing and achieving their dreams.
Who We Are
Marin College Access Network (MarinCAN) is a membership network and collaborative, established in 2010 to support the educational initiative of the Marin Community Foundation. The network supports targeted geographical regions and consists of community-based organizations, K-12 districts and schools, higher education, funders and other concerned parties.
MarinCAN believes all young people in Marin County should have the awareness, belief and aspirations, coupled with the academic, personal and financial wherewithal to be successful in their educational goals through college graduation.
MarinCAN is supported by the Marin Community Foundation and is a project of The Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership.
